I lost my job and could not afford to pay my rent. The maager gave me a 5-day notice to pay the rent or the lease was going to be termintated. Since I could not pay the rent, i decided to terminate the lease. Now the manager says that I am responsible for the rent until the end of the lease or until the property can be rented. That seems unfair! It was the manager who gave me the notice. Do I really still have to pay rent?

Hey there susan,
I'm not a legal advisor but i belive under these conditions, the answer is yes. If the rental agreement is terminated, the landlord may have a claim for possession and for rent and a separate claim for actual damages for breach of the rental agreement. Since the landlord did not do anything to breach the lease, what terminates are your rights under the lease agreement, but not your obligatons...
Good luck to you..
