Might need an agent « Thread Started on Jul 27, 2006, 12:14pm »
Hello,
I'm putting my house on the market. Don't know if i should try and sell it myself or get an agent. I know there are pros and cons. Anyone have a possitive experience selling their home themselves?

Hey! I've sold a house myself. It's really not that hard to do, just make sure you get the proper paperwork to keep both you as the seller and the buyer safe. You can get these real estate contract's online. Marketing your house is the key, you can put a forsale by owner sign up but then what? And, are you sure you are available to show the place? There's pros and cons to selling the property yourself...

If you are in no hurry to sell your house, then you might want to consider selling it yourself. Stick a sign on the property and see what happens.. what the hay! It's not as easy as that, but you can see what type of response you get...

Hi Julie,
I would get an agent if I were you. With all the lawsuits going on today, it's probably best to get a realtor. One that maybe a friend or neighbor can recommend.

As an Agent, I always wish FSBOs the best of luck. You can sell it yourself, but you must do your homework. There is a lot of paperwork, cost to advertise and time involved, unless you know someone that is interested in buying it.
I know it seems that Realtor fees are high, but it is a lot of work.
If you decide to sell it yourself, one bit of advice. PRICE IT CORRECTLY. Almost all FSBOs I see are priced too high (they all think their home is a palace).
